MyWorld — Your Personal Take on the Room's World

Build your own entity graph layered over a study room's canonical world. Add your own characters, places, and connections. Let your Personal Assistant help you find gaps and contradictions in your theory.

🧭

What is MyWorld?

Every study room has a canonical world— a shared set of characters, places, timeline events, objects, and context entries controlled by the room's owner and moderators. This is the “official” knowledge graph that all members can see and Sage (the room's AI) uses to answer questions.

MyWorld is your personal version of that world. It starts as a read-only copy of the canonical entities, but you can add your own entities, draw your own connections, and build your own theory — entirely private to you.

💡Think of the canonical world as the police evidence board everyone can see. Your MyWorld is your own detective's notebook — your suspects, your hunches, your connections.

Key Concepts

  • Canonical World— The room's shared, official entity graph. Controlled by owners and moderators.
  • MyWorld — Your personal entity graph. Private to you. One per room.
  • Linked Entities — Entities in your MyWorld that are connected to canonical entities. You can annotate them without changing the original.
  • Original Entities — Entities you create from scratch in your MyWorld. These only exist in your personal world.
  • PA Co-Investigator — Your Personal Assistant becomes aware of your MyWorld when you open it from inside a study room. It can reason across both the canonical and personal worlds.

What MyWorld Works For

  • Mystery investigations — Build your own suspect list, timeline, and theory of the case.
  • Research rooms— Develop your personal analysis framework alongside the group's shared corpus.
  • Corporate strategy— Model your own scenario hypothesis against the team's baseline.
  • Family archives — Annotate your branch of the family tree with personal memories.
  • Book clubs — Track your own character theories and plot predictions.
⚙️

For Room Owners & Moderators

As a room owner or moderator, you control who can create a MyWorld in your room. The feature is disabled by default — you must explicitly enable it.

Enabling MyWorld

1
Navigate to your room's World settings at /study-rooms/[your-room]/settings/world.
2
Ensure Enable Worldis checked. MyWorld requires the room's World feature to be active.
3
Find the MyWorld Access dropdown and select who can create personal worlds:
  • None — MyWorld is completely disabled. No one can create a personal world.
  • All members — Every room member (including Readers) can create their own MyWorld.
  • Contributors and above — Only members with the Contributor, Moderator, or Owner role can create a MyWorld. This is a good default for rooms that want to limit the feature to trusted members.
  • Moderators and above only — Only moderators and the owner can create a MyWorld. Use this for tightly-controlled investigation rooms.
4
Click Save World Settings.
ℹ️Changing the access level does notdelete existing MyWorlds. Members who already created one will keep it — they just won't be able to create new analyses if the level is raised above their role.

Starter Room Considerations

MyWorld is a premium feature. In free Starter meeting rooms, the World and MyWorld features are locked behind a Reader+ upgrade prompt. Members will see the MyWorld tab with a lock icon and an upgrade CTA.

Promoting MyWorld to Your Members

Once enabled, members will see a 🧭 My Worldtab in the room's Bookshelf dropdown navigation. They can also find a button on the World page itself. Encourage adoption by:

  • Posting an announcement: “I've enabled personal worlds — open your PA and start building your own theory of the case!”
  • Linking to this tutorial in your room's welcome message.
  • Creating a few example entities in the canonical world so members have something to annotate and build from.
👤

For Members

If the room owner has enabled MyWorld, you can create your own personal world in just a few clicks.

Creating Your MyWorld

1
Navigate to the room's Worldpage. If MyWorld is enabled, you'll see a 🧭 My World button in the top row.
2
Click Create My World. Your personal world is created instantly — no setup required.
3
You'll see two columns:
  • Left: Main World— The room's canonical entities. These are read-only. Hover over any entity and click + Add to bring it into your personal world.
  • Right: My World — Your personal entities. Edit, delete, and organize them however you want.

Adding Entities

There are two ways to add entities to your MyWorld:

  1. From the canonical world — Hover over any entity in the left column and click + Add. The entity is linked to the canonical version — if the room updates it, you see the latest. But you can add your own description, confidence level, and notes on top.
  2. From scratch— Use the “Create New Entity” form at the bottom of the My World column. Enter a name, pick a type (Character, Place, Timeline, Object, Context), and click Add. These entities are entirely yours — they don't exist in the canonical world.

Editing and Deleting Entities

Hover over any entity in your My World column and click Edit to open the entity editor. You can change the name, type, description, and confidence level. Click Delete to remove the entity and all its relationships.

⚠️Deleting an entity also removes all relationships connected to it. This cannot be undone.

Entities & Relationships

Entity Types

MyWorld uses the same five entity types as the canonical world:

👤
Character

People, suspects, witnesses, family members. The central actors in your world.

📍
Place

Locations, crime scenes, destinations, addresses. Where things happen.

📅
Timeline

Events, dates, sequences. What happened and when.

📦
Object

Evidence, weapons, heirlooms, documents. Physical items of significance.

📋
Context

Rules, hypotheses, constraints. The framework for your investigation.

Confidence Levels

Each entity can have a confidence level that signals how certain you are about it:

  • CONFIRMED — You're certain. Backed by evidence or primary sources.
  • ALLEGED — Reported or claimed, but not verified. Treat with caution.
  • SPECULATIVE — Your hunch or theory. Worth exploring but unproven.
💡Entities linked from the canonical world inherit the canonical confidence (mapped from the 1–5 scale). You can override it in your MyWorld.

Relationships

Relationships connect entities in your MyWorld. They are typed links with a label — for example:

  • Charles Ashford → suspects → Margaret Cole
  • Margaret Cole → visited → Langley Manor
  • The Will → owned by → Charles Ashford

To create a relationship, click + Add Relationship in the Relationships section. Pick a source entity, type a label, and pick a target entity. Relationships help the AI understand the structure of your theory.

The more relationships you create, the richer the AI analysis. Your PA can traverse the relationship graph to find patterns, contradictions, and gaps.
🤖

Your PA as Co-Investigator

Your Personal Assistant (PA) is your private AI that follows you everywhere on the platform. When you open the PA from inside a study room where you have a MyWorld, it becomes aware of both the canonical world and your personal world.

How It Works

  1. Open your PA popup while you're in the study room (click the PA icon in the sidebar or press the keyboard shortcut).
  2. The PA detects which room you're in and loads both the canonical entities and your MyWorld entities into its context.
  3. Ask questions about yourworld using “my” language — “who are the characters in my world?”, “what connections am I missing?”, “does my timeline contradict the main timeline?”

Example Questions

💬Who are the characters in my world?
💬What contradictions exist between my world and the main world?
💬I have five suspects — who am I missing?
💬Does my timeline make sense?
💬Show me all the relationships in my world.
💬Compare my theory to the room's canonical timeline.
💡You can rename your PA at /homeroom/pa/settings. Call it “Watson,” “Holmes,” or whatever fits your investigation style.

AI Analysis

MyWorld includes AI-powered analysis that helps you find gaps, contradictions, and missing connections in your personal world. Each analysis costs creditsthrough the platform's usage-based billing system.

ENTITY_GAP Analysis (MVP)

The first available analysis type is ENTITY_GAP. It compares your MyWorld to the canonical world and suggests entities you might be missing:

1
Scroll to the AI Analysis section on your MyWorld page.
2
Click Find Missing Entities (ENTITY_GAP).
3
The AI analyzes your entities against the canonical world and returns suggestions — each with a confidence level (high, medium, low) and reasoning.
4
For any suggestion you want to add, click + Add to bring it into your MyWorld.
ℹ️Each ENTITY_GAP analysis costs approximately 50 credits. Your current credit balance is checked before the analysis runs. If you don't have enough credits, you'll see a prompt to top up.

Future Analysis Types

Additional analysis types are planned for future releases:

  • RELATIONSHIP_SUGGEST— “What connections might exist between X and Y?”
  • TIMELINE_RECONCILE— “Does my timeline have contradictions?”
  • COHERENCE_CHECK— “How internally consistent is my theory?”
  • CUSTOM_QUERY — Free-form questions against your world graph.

Best Practices

Start by adding from the canonical world.Bring in the key characters and places first — you can always add your own later. The canonical entities give you a solid foundation and keep your MyWorld connected to the room's knowledge.
Set confidence levels early.Marking an entity as SPECULATIVE vs. CONFIRMED helps the AI understand what's solid ground vs. what's a hunch. It also helps you stay honest about your own theory.
Build relationships before running analysis. The AI analysis is most valuable when your world has structure. Disconnected entities don't give the AI much to work with. Aim for at least 3-5 relationships before your first analysis.
Use your PA regularly. The PA is your personal co-investigator. Ask it questions as you build — “what am I missing?”, “who is connected to this character?”, “does this make sense?” The more you interact, the richer the analysis.
💡Treat your MyWorld as a living document. As the room's canonical world evolves, come back and update your MyWorld. New evidence in the main world might change your theory — and that's the point.
🕵️

Example: Mystery Room Investigation

Let's walk through a realistic scenario: you're a member of a mystery room investigating the murder of restaurant owner Carlo Bianchi. The room's canonical world has a full set of entities — suspects, witnesses, timeline events, evidence. But you have a hunch that the room's primary theory is wrong. You think Serena Voss, the business partner, is being overlooked.

ℹ️This example shows how to use MyWorld to develop an alternative theory without disrupting the canonical world. Your work is private until you choose to share it.

Step 1: Create Your MyWorld

Navigate to your study room and click the My World tab. Click Create My World and give it a title: “The Partner Did It”.

Your MyWorld loads with the canonical world's entities visible as a reference on the left — but your personal world on the right is empty. This is your blank canvas.

Step 2: Build Your Suspect Theory

1
Pull in the suspect from canonical. In the canonical column, find Serena Voss (Character: Business Partner) and click + Add. She appears in your MyWorld as a linked entity — you see the room's official description, but now you can annotate it.
2
Add your own spin. Click Edit on Serena in your MyWorld. Add to the description: “Serena stood to inherit full ownership of the restaurant chain if Carlo died. She had been in a financial dispute with him for months over expansion plans.” Change her confidence from ALLEGED to CONFIRMED.
3
Create a motive entity.Use “Create New Entity” to add a new Context entity called “Financial Motive — Serena Voss”. In the description, detail the restaurant valuation, the disputed expansion plans, and the life insurance policy that named Serena as beneficiary.
4
Add a key witness from the canonical world. Pull in Marcus Chen (Character: Restaurant Manager). Edit him in your MyWorld to annotate: “Marcus testified he saw Serena arguing with Carlo the night before the murder. He was initially dismissed as unreliable but his timeline checks out.” Set confidence to CONFIRMED.

Step 3: Draw the Connections

Relationships are where your theory takes shape. Each connection is a statement about how entities relate.

1
Serena Voss → Motivated By → Financial Motive. This establishes why she might have done it.
2
Serena Voss → Argued With → Carlo Bianchi. Pull Carlo from the canonical world first, then create this relationship. Marcus's testimony supports this — now it's a documented connection.
3
Marcus Chen → Witnessed → Serena Voss / Carlo Bianchi Argument. Create a Timeline entity called “Argument at Restaurant — Night Before Murder” and link Marcus as a witness. Set the date range: Jan 14, 9pm–11pm.
4
Serena Voss → Was At → Restaurant Back Office. Pull in the Restaurant Back Office as a Place entity from the canonical world. The security footage places her there at 11:30pm — thirty minutes after Carlo was last seen.
💡Pro tip:Relationships don't have to be bidirectional. “Serena → Suspects → Carlo” doesn't imply “Carlo → Was Targeted By → Serena” unless you explicitly create both. This lets you model directional hypotheses like “I believe X did Y” without claiming Y knew about it.

Step 4: Build Your Own Timeline

The canonical timeline places Carlo's death between 10pm and midnight on January 14. Your theory requires a different sequence.

1
Create a new Timeline entity: “Serena enters back office (security footage)” with a precise timestamp: Jan 14, 11:28pm. Tag it as anchor — this is evidence-backed. Set confidence to CONFIRMED.
2
Create “Carlo last seen by staff” — Jan 14, 10:45pm. The canonical world has this event too, but you annotate it with your interpretation: “The last person to see Carlo was the dishwasher, who left at 10:45. Serena arrived after — there's a 43-minute gap with no witnesses.”
3
Create “Serena leaves back office” — Jan 14, 11:52pm (estimated). Tag it as estimated. The security footage cuts off — you're inferring the exit time based on a partial recording.
4
Create “Carlo found deceased” — Jan 15, 12:15am. Link this to the canonical event but note in your description: “Serena had a 23-minute window (11:52pm to 12:15am) unaccounted for before Carlo was discovered.”

Step 5: Let AI Find What You Missed

You have a solid suspect theory — 8 entities and 7 relationships. Now ask the AI if it spots gaps.

1
Click Find Missing Entities (ENTITY_GAP). The AI analyzes your MyWorld against the canonical world.
2
The AI suggests: Elena Rossi (Character: Restaurant Accountant). Reasoning: “Elena is the person who discovered the financial discrepancies in Carlo's books. She is connected to both Carlo and Serena in the canonical world. Including her could strengthen or challenge the financial motive hypothesis.”
3
Click + Add to pull Elena into your MyWorld. Create a relationship: Elena Rossi → Discovered → Financial Motive. Now your theory has evidentiary backing from a credible witness.
4
The AI also flags that you're missing a connection between the Restaurant Back Office and Carlo's death timeline. Create a Timeline entity “Carlo enters back office” based on staff testimony, tagged as estimated.

Step 6: Consult Your Personal Assistant

Open your PA popup from inside the study room. It now knows about both the canonical world and your MyWorld.

💬 “What contradictions exist between my world and the main world?

The main world places Serena at her apartment during the time of death. Your world places her in the back office at 11:28pm — directly contradicting the alibi she gave to police. The canonical timeline has a 2-hour gap (10pm–midnight) for Serena; your world fills this gap with security footage and staff testimony.

💬 “Does my timeline make sense?

Your timeline is internally consistent. The critical window is 11:28pm (Serena enters) to 11:52pm (estimated exit). Carlo was last seen at 10:45pm and found at 12:15am. Your theory puts Serena on scene during the 23-minute window when Carlo was likely killed. One gap: you don't have a clear account of what happened between 11:52pm and 12:15am. Consider finding evidence of Serena's movements during that period.

💬 “Who am I missing as a potential accomplice?

Based on your relationship graph, the dishwasher who last saw Carlo at 10:45pm is not in your MyWorld. They could confirm or contradict the timeline. Also, the restaurant's security guard is not in the canonical world — you may want to create this entity yourself if you suspect a third party was involved.

The Result: A Competing Theory

After an hour of focused work, your MyWorld now contains:

12
Entities
characters, places, timeline events, and context
11
Relationships
motives, witnessed events, connections
2
AI Analyses
gap analysis and contradiction check

Your theory — that Serena Voss, motivated by financial gain, was present at the scene during the critical window and had means and opportunity — is now a structured, analyzable world graph. The PA has validated its internal consistency and flagged gaps for further investigation.

And here's the key: none of this is visible to other room members. The canonical world is unchanged. You can choose to share your theory when you're ready — or keep refining it until you have a compelling case to present.

Next move:Present your theory in the room's chat. Say: “I've been working on an alternative theory focusing on Serena Voss. The security footage and financial motive tell a different story than the main timeline. Happy to share my MyWorld if anyone wants to review it.” When sharing features arrive in Phase 2, you'll be able to invite specific members to view your world directly.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the My World tab or button

The room owner has not enabled MyWorld, or your role does not meet the access threshold. Ask the room owner to check the MyWorld Access setting at the room's World settings page.

My PA doesn't seem to know about my world

Make sure you're opening the PA from inside the study room— the PA detects room context based on which page you're on. If you open the PA from the dashboard or another page, it won't have room context.

Also, use “my” language in your questions — “characters in myworld” not just “characters in the world.”

I ran out of credits during analysis

AI analysis costs credits. You can top up your credit balance through the billing dashboard. Your MyWorld and all its entities are preserved — you just need credits to run new analyses.

I left the room and came back — where's my world?

Your MyWorld is preserved when you leave a room and restored when you rejoin. If you were removed from the room, your MyWorld is soft-deleted — it will be restored if you rejoin, but you won't be able to access it while you're not a member.
