The Import from Amazon KDP wizard at /author/amazon is a dedicated tool for creators who have already published books on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. Instead of manually re-entering all your book's details, the wizard lets you import your book by simply pasting its Amazon URL or ASIN.
The wizard has four sections — three core sections plus an optional KDP details section — giving you full control over how your imported book appears on NotaeLibrary.

Paste your Amazon URL or 10-character ASIN. The wizard auto-extracts and validates it, showing a live preview of the resolved Amazon link.
🖼️ Cover Import
Paste your Amazon cover image URL for a live preview. Optional — you can upload a custom cover later from work settings.
📝 Book Details
Enter title, genre, description, and visibility. Required fields are clearly marked — tip: copy your Amazon blurb directly.
💰 KDP Details
Mark KDP Select enrollment and set pricing for Kindle, paperback, and hardcover editions — all optional.
Before you can use the Amazon KDP Import wizard, you need:
A Creator or Author role
Reader accounts cannot access the wizard. Apply for the Creator role in your account settings.
Your book's ASIN or Amazon URL
The 10-character ASIN can be found on your Amazon product page URL (/dp/B0XXXXXXXXX) or in your KDP Bookshelf.
Basic book information
Title, description, and genre are required. Having your Amazon blurb handy speeds things up — you can copy and paste it directly.
Cover image URL (optional)
If you want to bring your cover over, right-click your book cover on Amazon → 'Copy image address' and have it ready.

The first section of the wizard asks for your book's Amazon identity. This is the only section that affects whether the submit button is enabled — you need a valid ASIN before you can import.
Find your ASIN
/dp/, e.g. B0XXXXXXXXXPaste the ASIN or full URL

The second section lets you bring over your book's cover image from Amazon. This step is entirely optional — you can skip it and upload a cover later from the work settings page.

📛 Title *
Enter your book's title as it appears on Amazon, or customise it for your NotaeLibrary profile. This field is a plain text input — no character limit is enforced by the wizard, but titles generally work best under 200 characters.
🏷️ Genre *
Select a genre from the dropdown. The wizard includes 17 genres: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Mystery, Thriller, Romance, Historical Fiction, Literary Fiction, Horror, Adventure, Biography, Memoir, Self-Help, Business, Non-Fiction, Children's, Young Adult, and Other. Choose the one that best fits your book.
📝 Description *
A short description or blurb for your book. The wizard provides a resizable textarea — copy and paste your Amazon blurb directly for the fastest setup. You can edit and expand this later from the work's editor.
👁️ Visibility
A checkbox labelled “Make publicly visible” controls whether your imported book is discoverable by readers. When checked, readers can find and bookmark your book on NotaeLibrary. Leave it unchecked to keep the book private — you can change this at any time from work settings.
The fourth section is entirely optional and captures Amazon-specific information about your book. It is visually distinguished with an orange border to signal it relates to the Amazon KDP platform.
🔒 KDP Select / Kindle Unlimited
A checkbox to mark whether your book is enrolled in KDP Select or Kindle Unlimited. Amazon requires exclusivity for these programs — if checked, readers on NotaeLibrary will see a “Buy on Amazon” link rather than an in-library reading option. This respects Amazon's terms of service during your 90-day enrollment periods.
💲 Pricing
Three optional price fields for Kindle, Paperback, and Hardcover editions, all in USD. Enter the price as a decimal number (e.g. 2.99, 12.99). These are displayed on your book's NotaeLibrary profile page alongside the Amazon buy link.
Once all required fields are filled and your ASIN is validated, the Import Book → button at the bottom of the form becomes active. Here is what happens when you click it:

Library profile page
Your book gets a full profile page on NotaeLibrary with all the metadata you entered.
Discoverable by readers
If you checked 'Make publicly visible', readers can discover and bookmark your book in the NotaeLibrary catalogue.
Upload the manuscript
You can upload the full manuscript (EPUB, DOCX, PDF, etc.) any time from the work settings page — no rush to do it during import.
Edit anything later
Title, description, cover, genre, visibility, pricing, and KDP details can all be edited from the work settings page at any time.
Add to Study Rooms
Shelf your imported book in Study Rooms so members can discover, discuss, and review it.
Link to Worlds
Connect your book to a World — characters, places, and lore — to make it part of your fictional universe.
Copy your Amazon blurb
Open your Amazon listing in another tab, copy the book description, and paste it directly into the wizard. This is the fastest way to fill in the description field.
Use the full Amazon URL when possible
Pasting the full URL gives you the live preview link, which you can click to verify you are importing the correct book before submitting.
Skip the cover if the URL is tricky
Amazon cover URLs can be long and unwieldy. If copying the image address is giving you trouble, skip it — you can upload a custom cover from the work settings page later.
Start private, publish later
If you want to review everything before making your book public, leave “Make publicly visible” unchecked. You can toggle visibility any time from work settings.
Import multiple books quickly
After a successful import, use your browser's back button or navigate to /author/amazon again to import another book. Each import takes less than a minute once you have your ASINs ready.
❌ “Could not find a valid ASIN”
The wizard could not extract a 10-character ASIN from your input. Make sure you are pasting the full Amazon URL (with /dp/) or the exact 10-character ASIN. ASINs contain only uppercase letters and numbers — no spaces, dashes, or special characters.
❌ “Title is required” / “Description is required” / “Please select a genre”
One of the required fields in Section 3 (Book Details) is empty. Fill in the missing field and try submitting again. All three — title, description, and genre — must be provided.
❌ Cover shows “Invalid URL”
The URL you pasted does not point to a valid image. This can happen if you copied the page URL instead of the image URL. Right-click the cover image directly on Amazon and select “Copy image address.” You can also skip the cover and upload one later.
❌ Submit button is disabled
The submit button remains disabled until a valid ASIN is detected. Check Section 1 — if you do not see the green confirmation bar with your ASIN, the wizard has not recognised your input as a valid ASIN.
❌ Server error after submitting
If the API call fails, the error message is displayed in a red banner above the submit button. Common causes: network issues, server downtime, or the work creation API encountering an unexpected state. Wait a moment and try again. If the problem persists, contact support.
